Live Concert Visuals for
Dixit Domimus
with Phoenix Chorale
role:: Concepts, design, editing, animation, program for live performance
music by:: George Frideric Handel
Commissioned by:: Phoenix Chorale
Performed by:: Phoenix Chorale
I developed a live video accompaniment suite for Phoenix Chorale’s performance of Handel's Dixit Dominus. The visuals were designed to complement and reinterpret the music’s themes through a modern lens, using abstract and subjective imagery to enhance the emotional and narrative depth of the performance. A key feature of the project was its adaptability: the video was programmed to be “performed” live alongside the ensemble, allowing an operator to respond in real time to the timing and dynamics of the musicians. This integration of live performance and multimedia created a seamless dialogue between sound and image, offering audiences a more immersive experience.
